A June Wedding at Hope Island Beach Club

Every year I hope for at least one wedding at Hope Island Beach Club. It is my secret hidden gem in La Conner, tucked right along the water with views that make you stop and breathe.I usually will spot an eagle or a harbor seal when I’m there! It is a build-from-scratch venue, which means you bring in every rental and design element, but the payoff is incredible. Couples get a space that becomes entirely their own. The affordable venue pricing also helps balance the additional rental needs, so the freedom to create feels accessible rather than overwhelming. It is one of my favorite spots in Washington for that reason.

This June wedding was a Monet by the Sea dreamscape. The bride booked with me nearly three years before her date, which I rarely do, but her mother is an officiant here in the Pacific Northwest and someone I adore working with, so it was an easy yes. With such a long runway, the design story had time to unfold slowly and intentionally. Over the years I got to know the bride well, and her creative vision evolved in the sweetest ways.

Thoughtful Fashion and Sentimental Touches

The bride wore her grandmother’s wedding dress for the ceremony. It was classic, delicate, and sentimental in the best way. She changed into a second look for the reception, but that vintage moment felt like a beautiful thread connecting generations.

Her bridesmaids wore pastel spring floral dresses that blended perfectly with the Monet palette. Instead of traditional bouquets, they had floral baskets that added shape, whimsy, and texture.

The groomsmen were present, but we are not discussing that. Just kidding, they did add a little stress on the wedding day because they showed up in non matching suits. They were a team player though and ran out the morning of and put together a last minute outfit!

A Sailcloth Tent and Tables Filled with Texture

A sailcloth tent is always a perfect match for this venue. The light filters through it beautifully, especially with the water behind it. I love the flags on the top because there is alway a light breeze here to keep them moving. For the tables, we layered textures to create depth. Rattan chargers, elevated chairs, linens from BBJ, and soft pastel florals came together to create an atmosphere that felt warm, romantic, and felt like a Monet painting! I’m a huge fan of the milk glass budvases!

One of my favorite details was the place cards. The bride made the name cards for each guest and they were surprisingly practical because they acted as weights on a windy afternoon.

Flowers Picked by Hand

The bride’s florist was one of her former high school teachers, so the planning process was personal from the start. The bride even got to handpick the specific flowers for her bouquet, which is such a rare and special experience. It added another layer of meaning to an already thoughtful day.

Ceremony Moments Worth Celebrating

One of the most meaningful choices this couple made was signing their marriage certificate during the ceremony. They invited their witnesses up in real time, which gave everyone a moment to pause and remember the true purpose of the day. It grounded the ceremony in something honest and heartfelt. I loved that they carved out space to honor that tradition instead of rushing to the reception.

They also had flower grandmas and two very proud pups serving as ring bearers. It was charming and personal and joyful.

Sweet Treats and Artistic Desserts

The bride is gluten-free, so we worked with a gluten-free bakery that is truly an artistry. The Monet-inspired cake was beautiful, but the true showstoppers were the hand-painted cookies. Each one looked like a tiny watercolor painting. They were almost too pretty to eat.

Local Favors and Painterly Details

La Conner is famous for the Tulip Festival, so the couple gifted tulip bulbs as wedding favors. It was a sweet nod to the location and something guests could take home and enjoy long after the day ended.

For the seating chart, we created a Monet-inspired art display and wax-sealed each guest’s table assignment to the board. It was tactile, elegant, and completely on theme.

The bride created her wedding invitation suite! So many little labors went her vision. I’m obsessed with the envelope lining!

A Summer Wedding That Felt Like a Painting

This wedding album is one of my favorites. It is summery, colorful, textured, and full of heart. Everything felt like a brushstroke. Hope Island Beach Club proved once again why it is one of my most loved venues. When you let a space become a blank canvas and pair it with a creative couple who cares deeply about the details, you get a wedding that feels like art.

And this one truly did.
